Aine Murphy's Story
Aine’s sister Noreen passed away as a result of cardiomyopathy in April 2007, just two days before her 21st birthday and a month before she was due to qualify as a nurse.
“Nobody could believe it – she was so full of life and had boundless energy.” “I suppose, in an attempt to pay tribute to Noreen and to deal with our loss, my brother and sisters together with a wider circle of friends and family became involved with Croí at that time. That led to us getting a defibrillator for the community in Monivea and
establishing a Noreen Murphy Memorial Fund within Croí and are always involved in fundraisers. What we have achieved since then will never bring Noreen back but the effort to prevent sudden cardiac death in other families has helped us cope with the loss.”
“People are now much more aware of the condition as a result of our work and we hope that people in the community will benefit.”
