Croí Centre for Lifesaving Training
The Croí Centre for Lifesaving Training was officially launched in February 2007.
The initiative began in earnest in 2003 with the siting of the first defibrillators in public places.
Croí recognises that by-stander actions to cardiac emergencies are critical in influencing victim survival. The project involves the provision of expert advice, training and support to the general public in the techniques of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation. We hope that community actions will reduce death and disability from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in the West of Ireland.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the single most prevalent cause of premature death in adults. It is thought that approximately 5,000 deaths in Ireland are attributed to this cause each year.
