John's Story
John, 66, was referred to the Croí MyAction programme by his GP. He has Type II diabetes as well as high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
In addition, he has a family history of heart disease and was obese. When John joined the programme, he wanted to lose weight, have better control of his diabetes and become more mobile and active. In his own
words he was a ‘couch potato’.
“A lot of this stemmed from a back problem and the fact that I was in a rut,” he said. John and his partner, Maureen, attended the programme for just twelve weeks as they had
achieved their goals by then. “I’ve lost over a stone and my glucose levels are in a good place. My cholesterol is down from over 7 to 2.9. I still love the sweet things but don’t have them as much. I feel so much better. Without Croí, I don’t know where I’d be,” said John.
