Heart Charity Offers Lifesaving Skills Training!

Local Heart Charity Croí are encouraging the public to sign up for a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course which will take place on Wednesday the 2nd of December in the Menlo Park Hotel, Galway at 7pm. CPR is an easily learned lifesaving skill which takes only 2 hours to learn. Pre-booking for this upcoming course is essential as places are limited. The course fee is just €10 per person.

Research shows that most cardiac arrests are witnessed by a family member or a friend. Unfortunately, very many people in Ireland would not know what to do or how to respond in such an emergency. Learning CRP and the ‘Heimlich Maneuver’ (a technique to save someone from choking) requires as little as 2 hour of your time. It could be time well spent as you never know when you may need these skills. CPR could literally mean the difference between life and death.

Announcing details of the upcoming CPR training course for Family and Friends, Croí’s Community Basic Life Support Instructor, Catherine Sheridan, says “CPR is an easily and quickly learned skill but one that will last a lifetime!”.

To date, over 1,500 people have been trained by Croí in CPR for Family and Friends. There is an urgent need for more people to be trained given the prevalence of heart disease in the west of Ireland which accounts for over 35% of all deaths every year.

Demand for this course is high so early booking is advisable! Call Laura now on 091 480818.
