Croí Announcement - New Chairman of Foundation!

Heart Charity Croí, the West of Ireland Cardiology Foundation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Kieran Daly as chairman of the organisation’s Board.

One of the founding members of Croí, Prof. Daly has been Research and Medical Director of the Foundation since it was established in 1985. He takes the chair as Croí prepares to enter its 25th year and says “this is a very significant time in the history of the organisation. Following successful programmes such as helping the establishment of the Coronary Care and the Cardiothoracic Surgery units at University Hospital Galway, and community initiatives such as ‘Heartsmart’, the Public Access Defibrillator Project and the Croí MyAction, the Foundation is now focused on achieving its next milestone in the fight against heart disease, with the building of Croí House – the Western Heart Health Institute. This building will house the current organisation, further develop a range of community heart health programmes and be a centre for ongoing heart research and preventative cardiology. Despite the difficult current economic climate, Croí will continue in its efforts to improve the heart health of the population of the western seaboard and beyond”.
