In appreciation for the lifesaving treatment her dad, John Rafferty, received in the Cardiology Department, UHG, after a sudden cardiac arrest, Jane Rafferty recently organised a football tournament in Athlone, Co Westmeath in aid of local Heart Charity Croí and raised almost €2,000

Presenting the cheque to Croí, John paid tribute to the ambulance personnel who initially responded with such speed and professionalism after he suddenly collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrest; and to the cardiac team at UHG who then performed emergency treatment – literally saving his life!
