Supporter led events are a vital source of income for Croí. Here are some of the upcoming events that members of the public are organising to raise funds to help in the fight against heart disease.

Keith O’Reilly Memorial Tag Rugby Tournament

29th October 2011, Corinthians RFC

The third annual Keith O’Reilly Memorial Tag Rugby Tournament will be held in Corinthians Rugby Club this coming October 29th. Due to the incredible success of the 2009 and 2010 events, organisers have decided to hold a third competition with all proceeds going Cancer Care West and Croí.

Matches will be played in a 6 aside format (3 Guys & 3 Girls) with a maximum of 4 substitutes, making a 10 person limit per team. To enter a team please contact Cathal (087-9450593) or Darren (085-7536266). There will be a €10 entry fee for each player, with a team of 10 paying a total of €100.

Once the rugby is over there will be a fancy dress party in the clubhouse until the late hours of the morning, with prizes for the best dressed male and female. Live music will be provided by local band Jo & The Legends. For those not involved in the rugby there will be a €5 entry charge and all are welcome whether you will be involved in the tag rugby or not.

Keith O’Reilly passed away in a tragic accident in Chicago, Illinois in July 2009. Before his death Keith had played for Corinthians R.F.C. as well as playing rugby underage with both Connacht and St. Joseph’s College (The Bish). Throughout his career Keith won numerous awards, most notable, Corinthians Player of Year.

J & C Kenny Charity Golf AM-AM

Saturday 8th October, Cregmore Golf Club

J & C Kenny Ltd, the Galway based wine & spirits distributor, are organising a Golf Classic in aid of Croí at Cregmore Golf Club on Saturday 8th October 2011.

The Kenny family have recent first-hand experience of the vital role that Croí plays in stoke care, awareness and support to stoke sufferers. In a recent letter to prospective teams, proprietor John Kenny wrote “We are indebted to this fantastic organisation and, with your help, we aim to raise as much money as possible through our Charity Golf AM-AM to further Croí’s work in this area” .

All funds raised from this event will go directly towards Croí’s Stroke Campaign. This is an area of vital importance, with a vast amount of work needed to be undertaken.
